A weekend in Primm

Mark and I just returned from a weekend in Primm, Nevada.  We actually had a great time with an offer we hadn't been able to refuse.  We had a 2 night stay and tickets to see Frankie Valli in concert.........for free!  Yes, I have probably spent too much money gambling there and that is why we had the offer, but we still had fun and did NOT lose any money.  And Frankie puts on an excellent show - he can still hit those high notes!  If you're of a certain age group, be sure to catch his act if he comes to a venue near you.

As for the hotel - Mark and I have stayed at both the Buffalo Bill Hotel and Casino and now at the Primm Valley Resort (formerly the Primmadonna).  I would have to rate them at no more than 1 1/2 to 2 stars, but I admit I am a tough judge.  We thought the Primm Valley was cleaner than Buffalo Bill's and definitely not as crowded, but in both hotels the furniture and walls are dented and scratched, the baseboards pulling away from the wall in the bathrooms and the sheets of fairly low quality.  But the beds are comfortable and the air conditioning worked just fine.  And the Spa at Primm Valley is excellent - immaculately clean and the prices are reasonable.  And their Player's Club is excellent.  If you live in Vegas or want a slight change to your Vegas Vacation, I would recommend at least a day trip.  If you gamble at all, join their A-Play club for great offers.  We also took advantage of the Fashion Outlet Discount Mall to do a little shopping - I seem to find better prices here than at the outlets in Vegas, even though I believe they have the same owners.  You can enter through the southern end of the parking lot or through the Primm Valley.  All in all, an enjoyable weekend and we look forward to another concert in their Star of the Desert Arena - if you don't get the free offers, the tickets are very inexpensive and they have some of the good old groups - in addition to Frankie, we've seen The Beach Boys  and Sawyer Brown.  Rick Springfield will be there on June 14th, 2014 with tickets starting at $10.95.
